City and county emergency responders will benefit from $4 million in grants from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Gov. Pat Quinn's administration is announcing the grants will go to 120 accredited local management agencies to support disaster preparedness and response.
The Emergency Management Performance Grants are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The money can be used for day-to-day operations of local agencies. Another $7 million in federal funding will enable the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to provide dozens of training courses, emergency response exercise support and emergency planning assistance to responders across the state.
