Outsourcing's not just for factory workers. Bloomington's city council overwhelmingly approves out-sourcing it's legal work to a Springfield law firm. The Council voted 8-to-1 to contract with Sorling Northrup for the services of Jeffery Jurgens at a rate of $175 an hour. Mayor Tari Renner says the deal will save Bloomington at least $100,000 a year. The city also agreed to work with the National Development Council to give entrepreneurs a leg up. The one year deal will cost $5,000 a month. Alderman Judy Stearns, who cast the lone dissenting vote over outsourcing legal work, was joined by Kevin Lower in voting against the pact with the NDC. Lower questions government involvement in entrepreneurial endevours. The city's current economic development coordinator is leaving her post today for a job in Saint Louis.
