Mistubishi is reporting solid sales for May. The Japanese automaker with a plant in Normal says its sales were 7,269. That's a 54% increase over May of last year. The Outlander Sport crossover utility vehicle built in Normal was the company's top seller, with 2,820rolling out of showrooms last month. That's a 24% increase from a year ago.
So far this year, North American sales of Mitsubishi vehicles are outpacing last year by 33%. Mitsubishi Motors North America Vice President Don Swearingen says the robust May follows a stellar April and he expects the momentum to continue this month. Sales of the all-electric I-Miev declined to 35 units last month compared to 91 in May of last year.
