Birds of many species are currently migrating across McLean County. They can be heard and seen flitting about in wooded areas especially in the early morning hours. Birders -- as birdwatching enthusiasts are known -- are also out in force this time of year. WGLT's Judy Valente joined one group of binocular-toting birders from the John Wesley Powell Audubon Society for a walk through Ewing Park and learned that birding is an exercise in patience that often rewards.
Professor Given Harper says the red-tailed hawks nesting above the baseball field at Illinois Wesleyan probably will remain there until mid-June.
