Dan Brady Says Coroners Should Step Out Of Investigations Where Conflict Is Possible A situation involving a possible conflict of interest by the Bureau County Coroner's office is cited by former McLean County Coroner, and current state representative Dan Brady as reason to introduce a bill in the house:

"The Coroner's son was dating was dating the young lady who was deceased. And there was concern from her family that the coroner should not be involved in any form of the investigation due to the relationship, circumstance number one, and other things that they perceived to be a conflict."

Brady says the bill would amend county codes to mandate a coroner recuse himself from an investigation where a conflict is possible. He says the Deputy coroner, or other county official, would then take over. The bill passed out of a house committee yesterday.
