A conference devoted to a prison diversion program continues in Bloomington today. The 2014 Adult Redeploy Illinois All-Sites Summit opened yesterday. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority program offers financial incentives to counties and judicial circuits to develop programs to divert low-level offenders from prison. Adult Redeploy currently supports 19 programs operating in 34 counties. Officials say a typical Adult Redeploy intervention costs $4,400. The annual cost of prison per inmate is $21,500. Authorities say the program has saved $23.5 million since it began in 2011.
