The Town of Normal is close to signing off on a new four year contract with the union for its police force. After a tough bargaining session two years ago the two sides agreed to a two year deal. This time a more usual four year contract is up for consideration that would give officers a 2.85% pay hike in each of the first two years and a new wage negotiation for the second two years of the pact. There are also changes to sick leave use that will make it easier for officers to care for parents and children. Town staff estimate the budget impact from the new contract next year will be $160,000.
