Grammy Award-winning banjo player Bela Fleck received a fitting welcome when he arrived at the Peoria International Airport. Eight members of the Central Illinois Banjo Club serenaded him yesterday afternoon. The group included six banjo players, a guitarist and a mandolin player. They played a chorus of "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue" as Fleck and Peoria Symphony Orchestra conductor George Stelluto exited security. Fleck called it "the greatest welcome that I've ever had in my life." Fleck is scheduled to play with the orchestra tomorrow. The banjo club is celebrating its 20th year. Members perform at schools and nursing homes. Over the last 11 years they've raised enough money to donate about 400 ukuleles to a dozen area schools.
