Another ISU VP Leaves For Bigger Job Illinois State University is losing its Provost. Sheri Noren Everts has been named the new Chancellor at Appalachian State University. Everts came to ISU in 2008 as its Chief Academic Officer and top Vice President from Nebraska. Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina is part of the University of North Carolina system. It has a comparable number of students to ISU, but the Chancellor's position is one step up the rung from her job at ISU. Everts is the second vice President to leave ISU this year. Both she and Vice President for Finance and Planning Dan Layzell took larger jobs at other institutions. ISU Trustees Chair Michael McCuskey says Everts shared ISU's values and worked with the campus community to enhance the academic experience and prepare students to excel in a very competitive environment. McCuskey says he wishes Everts well in her new leadership role. A university spokesman says it is likely an interim Provost will be named when Everts leaves in June until a search finds a new chief academic officer.
