The Town of Normal is about to finalize the contract to fit out an Uptown Station space for the Illinois State University Galleries. The Town Council is expected to approve a nearly $1.4 million construction cost and Construction Manager the Mangieri Companies to do the project. Mangieri is also guaranteeing there will be no cost overruns in construction. The total project cost is $1.9 million which ISU's College of Fine Arts will reimburse the town over several years. The new gallery space is expected to open with the fall semester in August. ISU sees the space as an opportunity to extend it cultural offerings into the community for a broader audience. Town officials have said the purpose fits the vision of diversity for the Uptown District.
