Endangered Goats Not So Rare At Bloomington Zoo Bloomington's Miller Park Zoo isn't kidding around, another pair of San Clemente Island goats have been born at the westside facility. Director Jay Tetzloff says other zoos are happy about Bloomington's success:

"We have started two different breeding herds from our stock, we've sent them to the Henson-Robertson zoo down in Springfield and to private breeders. If it wasn't for private breeders, this breed would probably be gone."

The goats are the offspring of Breeze, who also had a kid a year ago. One of the zoo's other three female San Clemente Island Goats, Valencia, is also expecting. Tetzloff says since he came to Bloomington in 2010 a dozen of the small herbivores have been born. He also says:

"We've got another significant birth announcement next week......that will dwarf the goats."
