The Mclean County Republican Party is formally opposing the referendum to change the structure of the Bloomington City Council. Voters on March 18th will decide whether to eliminate one council seat, expand the size of existing wards and create three at large seats. The County GOP Central Committee says they feel the form of government disenfranchises many citizens and will not give all wards fair representation. Supporters of the measure suggest it could improve the working dynamic on the council over time and encourage council members to specialize...either in ward issues or in larger vision stratetic proposals.
