The Illinois Supreme Court has added Peoria County to the list of those allowing cameras and microphones in trial courtrooms. Four other counties in the 10th judicial circuit will also join the pilot project in two months, including Tazewell County. That will bring the number of Illinois Counties participating in the pilot program to 40. Chief Circuit Judge Stephen Kouri says they have worked on extending coverage for the last year and a half and are excited about participating in the pilot project. The state Supreme Court has allowed recordings of its own oral arguments since 1983, but did not begin the experiment in circuit courts until 2011.
