It appears State Senator Bill Brady is a not so favorite son candidate for Governor among McLean County Republicans this election cycle. The party nominee four years ago finished in a tie for last in a straw poll taken over the weekend at the GOP Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner in Bloomington. More than 170 people attended the event and voted. Leading the survey was State Senator Kirk Dillard with 34%. In second place was State Treasurer Dan Rutherford with 27% of respondents. And in last were businessman Bruce Rauner and Brady with 19%. The straw poll came on the heels of a Brady apology for making an insensitive remark about those on unemployment. Brady said early last week that out-of-work people don't want jobs because they enjoy collecting unemployment benefits. The state senator from Bloomington says he "didn't take into consideration there are a number of people out there looking for jobs who don't want to be on unemployment."
