The Illinois Department of Insurance says a man from Normal has received an eight and a half year prison sentence for Workers' Compensation Fraud. The judgment against Elbert Rayford, Junior is the longest imposed for the offense since the state changed workers comp laws in 2005. State officials say Rayford exaggerated his symptoms to doctors and therapists in an attempt to get about $45,000 in total disability benefits. Rayford is a former employee of T.G. Gum Trucking in Farmer City. Prosecutors made use of video surveillance footage showing Rayford is more physically able than he claimed to be. Rayford will also have to repay a minor amount of temporary total disability benefits he received before the case went to the McLean County State's Attorney's Office.
