Mitsubishi Motors North America bucked the sales trend last month caused by cold snowy weather. Ford, General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen all reported January declines from a year ago. Mitsubishi started the year with a 4.5% increase in sales. January sales for the company with an assembly plant in Normal totalled just under 4,900 vehicles. Sales of the Outlander sport, made in Normal, increased 36% in January, the best ever January result for the model launched in 2010. Mitsubishi says its sales grew for the fourth consecutive month and in six of the last seven months. Along with Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Nissan, and Subaru all posted January sales growth, though the industry as a whole is likely to be down for the month.
