Three pit bulls that attacked and killed a 4-year-old girl have been euthanized. Kara Hartrich of Bloomington, died Jan. 17 at a Normal hospital shortly after the attack. The two males and one female were euthanized after a state-mandated 10-day observation period. McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says preliminary information suggested the girl was home with a younger sibling and grandparent when the dogs mauled her. McLean County State's Attorney Jason Chambers says no charges would be filed against the owners of the pit bulls.
