The Unit Five School District in McLean County has trimmed its list of prospective new Superintendents to three. Spokeswoman Dayna Brown says they have gone through seven qualified applicants and settled on several finalists to bring in for second interviews and panel discussions with Unit Five Employees and Community Leaders.
The three finalists are: Michael Popp - the current Executive Director of K-12 teaching and learning at Indian Prairie School District in Aurora, Todd Koehl - the Superintendent of the O'Fallon District, and Mark Daniel - the Superintendent of Dowagiac Union Schools in Michigan.
Todd Koehl is the only one of the three to have worked in Bloomington Normal before. Koehl was a Unit Five Teacher and a Bloomington High School Assistant Principle before moving on to other positions in Farmer City and O Fallon. Michael Popp's experience comes from positions in Chicago and Aurora. And Mark Daniel's jobs have been in Indiana and in Dowagiac, Michigan. The Unit Five School Board hopes to choose a replacement for the retiring Gary Niehaus in February or early March.
