U Of Illinois Professor, Playwright Sponsors Gun Violence Plays Contest There have been more than 25 school shootings across the country since 20 children and six of their teachers were killed at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. The most recent incident was just this past week on the campus of Indiana's Purdue University. Playwright and University of Illinois professor Nicole Anderson Cobb is sponsoring a national gun violence play contest to broaden the national dialogue over this deadly trend. GLT's Judy Valente talks with Dr. Anderson Cobb about the overwhelming response to her call for gun violence plays.

Dr. Anderson Cobb says she's been contacted about her gun violence play contest by the veteran actor James McDaniel, who has appeared on the popular Netflix series "Orange is the New Black, among other shows. The actor said he is interested in helping select the winning plays and in directing performances of the winners.
