The Poetry Of James McGowan The central Illinois poetry scene would not be what it is today without the efforts of retired Illinois Wesleyan professor and poet James McGowan. GLT's Judy Valente talks with McGowan about his 50-year career as a writer, scholar, translator and tireless promoter of poetry.

In addition to his Baudelaire translations, James McGowan published one book of his own poetry, the 1978 collection called "Each Other-Where We Are." He is also co-editor with Lynn Devore of a 1988 anthology of poems by contempory Illinois poets called, "Benchmark."
