A Bloomington Police Officer has decided to retire in the wake of a DUI investigation against him. Sergeant Troy Doza had 22 years of service with the Bloomington Department.Police Chief Brendan Heffner says "as police officers we see firsthand the devastating consequences that drinking and driving can have. it is unacceptable for any officer to engage in that type of behavior." Heffner says "he will not tolerate that conduct." Assistant Chief Clay Wheeler says Doza was a gifted detective and a Sergeant that was very responsive to community needs and that it is unfortunate to lose him under these circumstances. Doza was arrested in November after being injured in a one vehicle crash on Fox Creek Road. State Police are investigating the criminal case. The immediate retirement ends a Bloomington Police internal investigation.
