With most of central Illinois shut down because of the cold temperatures, it's news when a business is open. Brian Simpson of Babbit's books in Uptown Normal says he hasn't had any customers, but he tries to make it in every day.
"Oh well, I had to come in and feed the cat anyway. And I have lots of work today. So, as long as I have to feed the cat, I might as well get my work done, and turn the sign from closed to open."
Simpson says today was really a walk in the park getting in to work. He says a year or two ago there was a heavy wet snow that was much worse to deal with than the dry powder this severe cold wave produced.
