Gov. Pat Quinn says he'll visit U.S. service members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center instead of his annual holiday visit to a medical center in Germany.
The Chicago Democrat says there are fewer patients now at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Walter Reed is based in Maryland. Quinn says he'll leave later this week and bring cards made by Illinois children. Veterans' issues have been one of Quinn's priorities. He traditionally has Christmas Day lunch with service members from the Great Lakes Naval Academy.
