Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, several city aldermen and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin plan to fast for 24 hours to support immigration reform efforts. The mayor's office says the 54-year-old's fast will begin at 7 p.m. when Emanuel speaks during an event at a church on the city's South Side. He'll be attending a Mass at St. Pius Church to mark the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Emanuel will stop eating to show his solidarity with Fast for Families protesters in Washington who are committing to consume only water as Congress considers immigration legislation. In a statement, Emanuel says the timing coincides with Mexico's religious holiday and is a way to ``remind our leaders what is at stake in the fight for immigration reform.''
