A seal that died at a Bloomington zoo last month had a twisted intestine. University of Illinois veterinarians completed a necropsy, or animal autopsy, on the Miller Park Zoo seal. The seal was named McGraw and was brought to the central Illinois zoo from Sea World in April. He came with his half-brother Kash as part of the Species Survival Plan. McGraw died suddenly on Nov. 8. Zoo superintendent Jay Tetzloff says caretakers are keeping a close eye on Kash to make sure he's adjusting to the loss. Tetzloff says seals are social animals and the zoo is looking to get another seal as a partner for Kash.
