Big Brothers Kids Get Hand Stitched Quilts Twin city boys and girls are gathering at Redbird Arena for special homemade cold weather gear. The Hands All Around Quilt Guild has made 280 hand stitched quilts for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Holiday Party. Blake Long is with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He says children involved with the program do better:

"We've done studies and what we've found is that children who are facing adversity and are matched up with a mentor in our program are less likely to engage in risky behaviors like using drugs and alcohol and are more likely to graduate high school."

Long says most of the kids in Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single parent, low income households where one parent is incarcerated. The party will be at 6 O'clock Tuesday evening in the Redbird Room at Redbird Arena on the I-S-U campus.
