One man is charged with attempted murder after a suburban Chicago police officer was dragged by a car as Thanksgiving Day shoplifting suspects tried to flee. Authorities Friday identified a passenger as 51-year-old Robert Russell. The Joliet man's charged with attempted murder. The driver remained hospitalized and hasn't been charged. Romeoville police say the officer injured in the shoulder outside a Kohl's store has been released from the hospital. As a patrol approached the store Thursday night, one suspect bolted out a door and jumped into a car's passenger seat. He allegedly closed the door on the officer's arm and the driver drove off. The driver was shot by another officer in the left arm. There was no answer at a telephone number for a Robert Russell in Joliet.
