A former Chicago White Sox star is donating $100,000 to help rebuild a central Illinois town devastated by a recent tornado. Jim Thome is a native of Peoria and has family who live in the Illinois city of Washington. Much of the town was leveled by severe storms earlier this month. Thome is now an assistant to the White Sox general manager. He says he was shocked by what he saw when touring the city's devastation. Thome says he and his wife Andrea pledged to help however they could. Four of Thome's former teams are helping with contributions. Along with the White Sox, they are the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins. The White Sox have also said they will host a youth sports event in the city next spring.
