Even with the seasonal slow down in October home sales, third quarter realty results in Bloomington Normal came very close to the seasonal peak in the second quarter. The average price of a home sold in the twin cities dropped substantially last month, but the numbers reported by the Bloomington Normal Association of Realtors seem to indicate that is partly due to the price range of new construction that came on the market in the period. The average price declined about $25,000 for the month, but remains 2% above last year's average year to date. The average price of a home sold in the McLean County market through the first ten months of the year is nearly $175,000. The 220 overall sales for the month were flat from September to October. But, October of this year was slightly better than the same month last year.
