The City of Bloomington has closed most of the parking deck at the Coliseum. There is a crack in a structural support at the Pepsi Ice Center parking deck. The city says it is investigating the scope of the problem as well as the possible causes and potential solutions. The top two levels and half the first level have been closed as a precautionary safety measure. 211 of the 264 parking spaces are now out of commission. City officials say the inspection that turned up the problem was conducted as part of a general property condition assessment of 47 facilities approved earlier this year. That assessment is supposed to generate a list of priorities for city infrastructure. The coliseum parking deck is only about seven years old.
