State Farm Insurance is reportedly assembling land for a national operations center in the Atlanta, Georgia area. An Atlanta research firm indicates the Bloomington-based company paid $32 million for nearly four acres of land to go with a ten story building and 13 acres of undeveloped land acquired in the suburb of Dunwoody, Georgia earlier. Numerous reports indicate State Farm may spend $1 billion on the center. In February, State Farm confirmed it was expanding operations in the Atlanta area, Phoenix, and Dallas. State Farm is not saying how many Atlanta area jobs will be created, but already employs 3,500 people in that metro area, 2,000 of them in an existing operations center.
