A 29-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated arson in connection with the death last week of a Peoria night club owner. Todd Scholl owned the nightclubs Berlin and Diesel in downtown Peoria. His body was found Oct. 2 in a first-floor storage area of an apartment complex that had been set afire. An autopsy determined Scholl died from multiple stab wounds and was dead before the fire started. Charged Wednesday in the death is Bryan J. Stewart. Police say Stewart was the person they identified in a security camera video as a person of interest during the investigation into Scholl's slaying.
