Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner's new running mate says she's not what career politicians in Springfield expected as a pick. Rauner announced Wheaton City Councilwoman Evelyn Sanguinetti as his lieutenant governor choice today. She says she has a unique perspective as a 4-foot-11 Latina mother of three with an Italian last name. She's a lawyer who was once an assistant attorney general under then Attorney General Jim Ryan before joining the suburban Chicago council in 2011.
She's the daughter of Cuban and Ecuadoran immigrants and was born in Florida. Sanguinetti is anti-abortion; She says her mother chose to have her while she was a young teen. She also believes marriage is between a man and woman. She says pension reform should be a top priority.
