Justice Department Gives Peoria Police $$

Peoria's Police Department is getting three quarters of a million dollars in federal help. The Justice Department Community Orienged Policing Services or COPS program made the award to the river city which will allow the hiring or retention of six police officers. Five Illinois communities are receiving a total of $3.5 million in COPS funding.
