Fans and supporters of ISU football got a sneak peek at the newly-renovated Hancock Stadium following formal dedication ceremonies. The $26 million dollar facility costs almost exactly ten times what the original stadium and adjoining Horton Fieldhouse cost when they were dedicated fifty years ago this month. ISU President Tim Flanagan noted the increased cost and funding similarities.
"It's interesting how things have changed. The administration that afternoon was quick to make it clear that no state funds were used to build the facility. It's also interesting that some things never change."
A combination of student fees and private donations paid for the renovation. The capacity of Hancock Stadium will more than double from last year's scaled back 7,000 to 15,000 beginning this fall.
