Illinois state schools superintendent has been named to two national boards. Christopher Koch will serve a two-year term as finance vice chair for the Education Commission of the States and a three-year term as a member of the board of directors for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. The Education Commission of the States works to improve communication among state education chiefs and lawmakers. The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation works to advance teacher preparation. Koch joined the state board in 1994. He's also worked as the board's director of special education and its chief education officer and previously worked at the US Department of Education. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
