Illinois home foreclosure activity fell 6 percent in August compared to July, and has fallen almost 60 percent in the last year. A report RealtyTrac shows Illinois with 7,289 foreclosure filings in August. That represents a rate of one in every 725 housing units, the eighth-highest in the nation. Filings include default notices, auction-sale notices and bank repossessions. Nevada had the highest foreclosure rate in August, one in every 359 housing units. Other states with foreclosure rates worse than Illinos were Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio and Utah. Nationally, the foreclosure rate in August was almost 2 percent lower than in July and 34 percent lower than August of 2012.
