America's Music On The Big Screen

The film series America's Music begins tonight at the Normal Theatre with High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music. It's one of 6 critically aclaimed flims on rock and roll, Latin, Broadway, jazz, gospel and bluegrass showing through November 5th. Tom Faux is an associate professor in Illinois State University's College of Fine Arts and an ethnomusicologist. Anne Shelley is the Music/Multimedia Services Librarian at ISU's Milner Library. Together they helped put together the series...and a lot of assoicated events. Anne says the series is an opportunity to learn about different types of music.


The first film in the series High Lonesome: the Story of Bluegrass Music is tonight at 7 at the Normal Theater in Uptown Normal. The series wraps with Say Amen, Somebody, November 5th. All of the films are free. See a screening schedule and a list of associated events.
