State Farm Insurance is raising auto rates in Illinois between three and four percent. Insurance Department filings show most vehicle owners that have policies with State Farm will pay about 3.2% more starting at the end of the month. The change more than eliminates a 2% rate reduction that took effect about a year and a half ago. Before that, the last time State Farm reduced rates was 2007. The Bloomington-based company insures about a third of Illinois vehicles. The company says the hike reflects claims costs. State Farm competitor Geico is also raising its rates in Illinois by about 3% in November.
