Peoria International Airport is receiving nearly $1.4 million in federal improvement grants. The General Wayne Downing Airport will use the money to rehabilitate the airport apron, preserve access to the field for major employers, and support construction jobs. The FAA improvement plan is funded by the Airport and Airways Trust fund which collects ticket taxes, user fees, and aviation fuel taxes.
