Old Barn Gets New Life In Congerville The University of Illinois plans to build a solar-energy farm where a century-old barn now stands. But the barn will live on in a new location in Congerville. The barn was built in the early 1900s just south of Champaign. Trillium Dell Timberworks of Knoxville is being paid $55,000 to take the barn down. The company says a buyer near Congerville plans to use the old barn for horses. The 40 foot tall barn is one of the last large timber salt box design structures of it's kind. Crews began disassembling the barn last week. (above, a sample of the salt box barn design)
