Governor Pat Quinn has signed a bill into law requiring companies and others who make so-called robo calls to keep a record of the calls made. The new law signed Monday will also require the callers to keep track of the calls they claim are exempt from do-not-call registries. Quinn's office said in a news release the new law increases consumer protections already provided in existing laws against such calls. The legislation was sponsored by state Senator Pamela Althoff and takes effect immediately.
