Anyone who looks too young is supposed to show proof they're of age before they can buy alcohol or cigarettes. Now they'll have to do the same in order to use a tanning bed. A law the governor signed yesterday bans anyone under the age of 18 from using one. Heather Eagleton, an activist affiliated with the American Cancer Society, says young people sometimes make poor decisions ... and the law will help them see that an indoor tanning bed is a poor choice:
"This is just a way to prevent kids from accessing these very deadly devices, just like we do with cigarettes."
Eagleton says says in the last 20 years ... the number of young adults who use tanning bans has increased from one-percent to 27-percent. Tanning salons say it'll hurt their business.
