West Nile Virus Found In McLean County

The McLean County Health Department says itt has collected the first evidence this year of West Nile virus in the area. Mosquitoes collected in Old Town Township just east of Bloomington have tested positive for the virus that can cause anything from minor flu like symptoms to serious neurological problems and death. McLean County is one of 16 counties to have a mosquito collection test positive this year. It indicates an increased threat as infected mosquitoes can pass the virus to humans.
