President Obama will return 5% of his salary in tribute to furloughed federal workers. And central Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis says the House and Senate should vote to reduce Congressional pay as well..

Congressional office staff and budgets have already been reduced because of the sequester reductions. But, Congress is under more limitations regarding salaries for Senators and Representatives, because it is barred from taking action on pay that affects current office holders. That is usually seen as a check on increasing pay. But, in this case, it also limits change the other direction. There is a bill in the House to cut pay for the next Congressional term in two years. Davis, a Republican from Taylorville says the difficulty in getting action is symptomatic of Washington ways.
