Planned Parenthood of Illinois is moving its twin cities health center from downtown Bloomington to the east side of town. The new health center will be on Veterans Parkway near the Burger King. CEO Carol Brite says the location will let the group offer preventive health services to more women, men, and teens as the Affordable Care Act goes into full effect in the fall. Last year, Planned Parenthood served more than 2,500 people in Bloomington Normal. The agency offers only preventive services in the twin cities and also hosts a teen awareness group. Most of the group's clients live at or below the federal poverty line. One focus is sexually transmitted diseases. McLean County ranks in the top 25% of Illinois Counties for common STD's, and is 16th in the state for Chlamydia.
