Play tackles issue of aging farmers, future of farmlands According to the USDA for every one farmer under thirty there are six over sixty. A local play intends to bring attention to that issue and others facing Illinois heartland farmers, according to its adapter and Spring Bay farmer Doug Day. Day says changes were made with what happens after the play in mind ...

". . .It's really designed as a way to begin a conversation following the performance with the audience."

Day says the goal of the work is to bring awareness to the loss of farming culture in Illinois...

"Part of what the play talks about is really...the disappearance of rural community."

The play, "What Will Be Your Legacy?" centers around an aging couple with a 240 acre farm they must rent, sell, or let lie and the difficulties they face in trying to come to a decision. The show will run in Bloomington March 22 and 23 and in Peoria March 29 and March 30.
