A federal judge in Peoria has sentenced a 51-year old Bloominton man to nearly six and a half years in prison for violating the Sex Offender Registration Act. Prosecutors say Anthony Baker moved from Bloomington to Michigan to live with a single mother he met on the internet when he was awaiting sentencing for his second violation of the registration act. Baker spent most of the time between 1983 and 2000 in prison for multiple rapes. The U-S Attorney's office says failing to register usually carries a lesser penalty than Baker received but in view of his history and repeated registrations he should receive a stiffer sentence. The cases were brought as part of a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation.
