The 15 year old boy who held classmates hostage at Normal Community High School in September will go to juvenile prison. A judge has ruled the youth does not qualify for probation and mental health services in the community. He had pleaded guilty but mentally ill to armed violence for firing shots in the classroom before teacher Derrick Schonauer overpowered him. The boy could be imprisoned until age 21, though that depends on the Prisoner Review Board. Charges are still pending against 43-year old Rodney Kinder of Normal for providing a gun and a rifle to the boy, who did not have a valid Firearm Owners Identification card.
