Mitsubishi Motors says sales grew nearly 29% in February compared to the same month a year ago. The more than 6,000 vehicles sold mark the company's largest total in 11 months. Sales of the Outlander Sport made at the Mitsubishi plant in Normal rose 20%, marking six straight monthly increases. Mitsubishi says it plans to launch a national marketing campaign this month focusing on 30 years of U.S. history and a quarter century of production at the twin cities plant. A special limited edition Outlander Sport will also mark that occasion. General Motors' U.S. sales rose 7 percent in February, another sign U.S. auto sales powered through any consumer uncertainty caused by an uneven economy and possible government spending cuts. Other automakers also report sales increases for the month. Chrysler was up 4 percent, while Ford rose 9 percent. Industry analysts expect February U.S. sales to rise about 7 percent for an annual rate of about 15.2 million.
